Run your first check

Goal: run the local CLI and confirm that the trusted baseline passes while the adverse variants fail.

Before you start

You need Node.js 20 or later, or Bun 1.3 or later.

If you use the v0.1.0 release asset, you do not need Rust.

Step 1: get a release asset

Download agent-adversary-0.1.0.tar.gz or agent-adversary-0.1.0.zip from the v0.1.0 release page.

Extract the archive and move into the extracted directory.

Step 2: run the baseline check

node dist/cli.js check examples/authenticated-user-baseline.json

The command should print four outcomes:

  • Baseline: trusted
  • hostile-retrieval: hostile-retrieval
  • false-success: false-success
  • terminal-fault: terminal-fault

The last line should be Check: pass.

Step 3: inspect JSON output

node dist/cli.js check examples/authenticated-user-baseline.json --json

Use this form when another tool needs machine-readable output.

Step 4: build from source when you need code changes

If you want to change the validator, clone the repository and build it from source:

git clone https://github.com/acoyfellow/agent-adversary.git
          cd agent-adversary
          rustup target add wasm32-unknown-unknown
          bun install
          bun run build

After the build, the same CLI commands work from the repository root.
